Three teenage girls were arrested Friday night while beheading a 15-year-old girl.

Three teenage girls, aged 14 to 17, members of the Barrio 18 gang, have been arrested in the Guatemalan capital while beheading a 15-year-old girl, police said on Saturday.

The minors were “discovered while beheading a 15-year-old girl” on Friday night in a building in northern Guatemala City, police spokesman Jorge Aguilar told reporters.

“Police officers patrolling the area heard screams and immediately started searching for the building where these calls for help came from,” the spokesman said.

The victim died on the spot

“They entered the building at the time the crime was committed: one of them was holding the victim and the other was filming with his cell phone,” the spokesman added, noting that despite the intervention police the victim had died on the spot. The motive for the crime was unknown at this time.

The Barrio 18 gang, like rival Mara Salvatrucha, specialize in racketeering businesses and bus companies, killing employees who refuse to pay the required amount.
