The We Love Green festival in France, which runs until Sunday, has canceled concerts scheduled for Saturday night due to heavy rains and heavy thunderstorms, especially in the Paris region.
“We Love Green is Koh Lanta.” Many participants in the Francilien festival “We Love Green” (out of the 40,000 people present) documented on Saturday night the evacuation of the site located in the Bois de Vincennes, particularly muddy and in the rain.
The organizers of the festival, which runs until Sunday, decided on Saturday night dto cancel concerts scheduled for Saturday night due to heavy rain and heavy thunderstorms affecting in particular the Paris region. On BFMTV, the organizer Marie Sabot announced that the festival-goers would be reimbursed, and that the site could have been evacuated “quietly” around 9 p.m.
Impressive images on which one can distinguish the crowd of participants soaked or snuggled in windbreaks evacuating in the calm, their feet in a thick mud. Some are annoyed, others are rather amused or disappointed by the situation.
In some videos, festival-goers can be seen trying to hide under wooden tables before the site is evacuated, or others trying to protect themselves from the rain with signs.
“The conditions are not good for the public or for the artists,” an on-stage spokesman said earlier, according to an AFP reporter on the scene.
“At first we didn’t know if it was going to be evacuated or suspended. Then they made an announcement around 7pm and then we all went out at the same time so it took a long time,” Alison, a young woman, told BFMTV who was present this Saturday night at the Bois de Vincennes. “It was a bit slow because we all went out at the same time but it was pretty well managed,” said Emmanuel, who was also present on Saturday night.
The environmentally friendly festival reopened on Thursday at the Bois de Vincennes, after two editions canceled due to a health crisis (2020 and 2021). The opening night on Thursday was marked by a concert by Gorillaz, one of the bands of the British Damon Albarn.
The Phoenix Versailles and rapper SCH were scheduled for Saturday. The other headliners of the event are Angèle, PNL, Juliette Armanet, who are expected on Sunday. We Love Green welcomed a total of 80,000 people in 2019 in its latest edition.
