The man who has killed four people Wednesday at a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahomatargeted the doctor who operated on his back and found him responsible for his pain, police said today.

Michael Louis was admitted to St. Francis Hospital on Wednesday with a handgun and a semi-automatic rifle, the latest killing in a country still marked by the massacre at an elementary school in Uvalde.

In addition to his doctor, the shooter killed another doctor, a receptionist, a patient and injured others before committing suicide, law enforcement said at a news conference.

Michael Louis had surgery on his back by Dr. Preston Phillips on May 19th.

After he was discharged from the hospital on the 24th, the patient had “called several times complaining of pain, and wanted to receive additional treatment”said Wendell Franklin, Tulsa Police Chief.

Michael Louis was holding his doctor responsible for his pain, and officers found a letter on him “which clearly states that he came with the intent to kill Dr. Phillips and anyone in his path”added Wendell Franklin.

On Wednesday afternoon, before going to the hospital, the suspect had bought a semi-automatic rifle “type AR-15”he continued.

This weapon, as powerful as it was controversial, was used at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, where 19 children and two teachers were killed by a teenager on May 24.

Vice President Kamala Harris had called on Saturday to ban assault rifles, often used in massacres that regularly punctuate U.S. news.

These weapons “were designed with the specific aim of killing many people in a short time. An assault rifle is a weapon of war that has no place in civil society.”she had nodded.

Recent shootings have revived the gun debate, with President Joe Biden promising to act. In Congress, elected officials are negotiating for a compromise, with little hope of success as the divisions are deep.
