Mail App Not Working on iPhone: How to Fix?

If you can’t receive emails or can’t send emails on iPhone, below are the steps to fix the Mail app not working issue on iPhone.

The issue of Mail app not working on iPhone or iPad can occur for a variety of reasons ranging from minor software glitches and busy email servers to Mail app corruption or corruption.

You should be able to fix this issue with the troubleshooting steps given below.

1. Restart the iPhone

Start with a simple solution and go for it settings > General > scroll down and tap shut down. On the next screen, use the slider to OUT Position.

2. Check the status of the mail server

Sometimes the problem is because your email service provider (Google, Outlook, etc.) server is down or having problems.

If you use Gmail, go to Google Workspace status dashboard and make sure the Gmail service is working.

If you use Outlook, take a look at Microsoft Service Health Portal and make sure the Outlook service is running.

Also, make sure that Apple’s iCloud Mail service is working and not encountering any problems by visiting it Apple system status Dashboard.

3. Check the email retrieval settings

If you’re facing a delay in receiving email, it’s probably because the Mail app is set to check email manually.

Go to settings > post > accounts > Get new data > select on the next screen Automatically Possibility.

Note: While the Manual Fetch option saves battery life, it only checks for new emails when you’re using the Mail app.

4. Check the email notification settings

Go to settings > notifications > post > move allow notifications switch to ON Position.

Note: For privacy reasons, you can uncheck the box lock screen Alerts to prevent email notifications from appearing on your unlocked iPhone screen.

5. Disable VPN

If you are using VPN, disable the VPN service on your iPhone and see if that helps fix the problem.

Go to settings > VPN > Move the switch next to status to OUT Position.

After disabling VPN, open the Mail app on your iPhone and see if it works now.

6. Turn on Cellular data for the Mail app

When you’re away from home or the office, the Mail app can only work if it’s allowed to access mobile or cellular data on your iPhone.

Go to settings > post > Move the switch next to cellular data to the ON position.

Note: If you’re traveling and outside of your cellular network, you may need to turn on data roaming to receive email.

7. Check the device storage space

iPhone can’t receive email if it doesn’t have enough storage space for email messages.

Go to settings > General > iPhone storage > Make sure there is enough disk space.

If there is not enough storage space, you have to make efforts to free up storage space on your iPhone.

8. Check iCloud storage space

Likewise, you must have enough space in your iCloud storage account to send and receive emails.

Go to settings > Tap yours Apple ID name > iCloud > Make sure iCloud storage is not full or almost full.

If there is not enough storage space, you need to make efforts to free up iCloud storage space.

9. Reset all settings

This will factory reset all settings on your iPhone without erasing any data from your iPhone.

Go to settings > General > Transfer or reset iPhone > Reset to default > select Reset all settings Possibility.

Tap on the confirmation pop-up Reset to default confirm.

After the iPhone restarts, you need to rejoin the WiFi network by entering your WiFi network password.

10. Remove and reinstall email app

If the above solutions didn’t help, the problem could be due to the Mail app being corrupted or corrupted. This can be fixed by removing and reinstalling the Mail app.

Hold down Mail app icon and select Remove app option in the drop down menu.
