Ukraine claims to have pushed back Russian forces in Severodonetsk, a key city in the Donbass region where Moscow is concentrating its offensive in hopes of gaining full control. After 100 days of war, Russia claims to have fulfilled some of the goals of the “special military operation” it launched to “denazify” Ukraine and protect its Russian-speaking population.
“The victory will be ours,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky retorted on Friday in a video in front of the presidential administration building in Kiev with several of his aides.
After being defeated in front of Kiev, the Russian army is now concentrating its efforts on the Donbass in eastern Ukraine, relentlessly looting some cities, including Severodonetsk, which has been the subject of a fierce battle for weeks. It is in this region that a long-term “usury war” is now taking place, warned NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
