How to speed up an Android phone using developer options

Your Android phone has hidden settings that can be accessed to keep it running faster than ever. If that sounds interesting, let’s go ahead and take a look at the steps to speed up Android phones or tablets.

Speed up Android phone

It’s a well-known fact that hardware specs alone can’t make a device run faster. Software and graphics play a big part in the speed of a phone or tablet. This can be clearly seen in Apple devices, which perform exceptionally well mainly due to their well-designed software and graphics.

The good thing about Android devices is that they run on an open-source Android operating system, which allows anyone to modify or tweak the software to get better results.

With that in mind, every Android phone and tablet has developer options that are hidden from regular users. However, it’s really easy to enable developer options on most Android devices and get access to the hidden developer menu.

After accessing developer options, the next step is to tweak 3 sets of settings that control the speed of animations on your Android phone. As surprising as it may sound, tweaking animation settings can almost double the speed of animations on your phone, resulting in a much faster Android phone.

Disable animations on Android phone

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, setting the animation scale to OFF means you won’t be able to see animations on your Android phone. However, disabling animations can certainly make a phone run faster, and this might be a better option for older Android phones that may have become painfully slow.

More ways to speed up Android phones or tablets

Over time, tons of unwanted data get into your Android phone’s storage – unwanted photos and videos, screenshots that are no longer needed, and all kinds of downloads that you might not even know about.
