If your iPhone is locked and you don’t know the passcode, below are the steps on how to reset iPhone without passcode and access your device.

The iPhone offers the option to use a lock screen passcode, which prevents others from gaining access to your device without knowing the lock screen passcode.

If you forget the passcode, the iPhone will only allow a few wrong passcode attempts, after which it will be locked for a temporary period.

If more incorrect sign-in attempts are made, the iPhone will be permanently locked and display a blunt message that says “Your iPhone is disabled.”

After this point, the only way to gain access to your device is to remove lock screen password by performing a factory reset on your device.

Let’s continue with this understanding and take a look at two different methods to reset iPhone without passcode.

1. Reset iPhone using Find My iPhone

If you previously enabled the Find iPhone feature on your iPhone, you can follow the steps below to factory reset iPhone using Apple’s Find My iPhone service.

1. Go to on your Mac or PC icloud.com and log in to your iCloud account by entering your Apple ID and passcode. Once you are logged in, click Find iPhone Symbol.

2. If prompted, enter yours Apple ID password Sign up for the Find iPhone service. On the next screen, click All devices option (top center of the screen) and select it iPhone you want to delete.

3. On the next screen, click Delete Iphone Option to erase all data on your device including lock screen passcode.

4. If prompted, enter yours Apple ID password to confirm that you want to erase all data on your device. After the data is erased, find the iPhone starting with hello screenand prompts you to set up the iPhone.

5. Follow the onscreen instructions until you reach the Apps & Data screen. Choose Set as new iPhone Possibility.

6. Follow the prompts to complete the setup process, join the WiFi network, and set a new lock screen passcode for your device.

2. Reset iPhone in recovery mode

If Find My iPhone service is not set up on your device, the only way to reset iPhone is to force your device into recovery mode.

To force iPhone into recovery mode, you need a Mac or Windows computer with the latest version of iTunes installed and a cable to connect iPhone to computer (charging cable).

1. Connect iPhone to computer > Open the finder on Mac (macOS Catalina or later). If you are using a Windows PC, open iTunes (If iTunes is already open, close and reopen iTunes).

2. Follow the steps below to enter recovery mode for your iPhone model.

iPhone 8 and later: Press and release volume up key > Press and release volume down key > Next, hold down side button (Power button) until you see the Recovery mode screen.

iPhone 7/7Plus: Hold down the side and volume down buttons at the same time. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen.

iPhone 6 or older: press and hold home and side (Power) buttons simultaneously. Keep holding them until you see the recovery mode screen (iTunes logo and cable).

Note: Don’t release them button As you can see, the iPhone starts with the Apple logo. Keep holding the button until you see the recovery mode screen.

3. Once iPhone enters recovery mode, you will see a popup on computer > select that Restore Option to completely erase the data on your iPhone including the lock screen passcode.

Wait patiently for your computer to download the software onto your device. If the download takes more than 15 minutes and your device exits recovery mode, wait for the download to finish and repeat step 3.

4. After the update/restore process is complete, the iPhone will start on the “Hello” screen.

5. Follow the onscreen instructions until you reach the Apps & Data screen. Make your selection on this screen Set as new iPhone Possibility.

Follow the remaining instructions to complete the setup process, join the WiFi network, and set a new lock screen password for your device.
