Put printer online in Windows 11
If you sent multiple files to the printer but cannot hear the print, the printer probably lost connection with the computer and went offline.
The reason for the printer being offline can be due to loose cable connections, outdated or corrupt printer drivers, and the printer going offline.
Below are a number of methods to get printer online in Windows 11/10.
1. Disable offline mode
Go to settings > Devices > select Printers & Scanners in the left pane. In the right pane, select the Printer you want to put online and click on it open queue Possibility.
On the next screen, go to the Printer tab and uncheck the box Use printer offline Possibility.
2. Restart printer and computer
Restarting the printer and computer can help resolve minor software glitches and connection errors.
1. Turn those off Printer > wait 60 seconds and restart the Printer.
2. Reboot your computer and try to print a test page.
3. Troubleshoot the printer
The built-in troubleshooter in Windows 11/10 can be trusted to find and fix printing problems on your computer.
Go to settings > Updates & Security > select Troubleshooting in the left pane. In the right pane, scroll down and tap Additional bug fixes.
On the next screen, select the affected one Printer and click Run the troubleshooter Button.
Follow the onscreen instructions as the troubleshooter tries to find and fix printing problems on your computer.
4. Restart the print spooler service
Right click on the beginning click and click To run. In the command window, type run services.msc and click OK.
On the Services screen, right-click Print spooler and click the Start anew Possibility.
Also make sure that the print spooler service is set to start automatically. If it isn’t, double-click the Print spooler Entry. On the next screen, change the startup type to Automatically.
Click on Apply and OK to save this change in the print spooler service on your computer. After that, restart the computer and you should be able to print.
5. Delete the print queue
Sometimes the problem is that a document is stuck in the print queue.
Go to settings > Devices > select Printers & Scanners in the left pane. In the right pane, select yours Printer and click open queue Possibility.
On the next screen, right click on the Stuck document (if available) and select it Cancel option in the right-click menu.
Once the stuck document is cleared, you should find the printer online and be able to process print commands from the computer.
5. Set as default printer
If you usually use the same printer, setting it as the default printer can help to avoid future printing problems.
Go to settings > Devices > Click Printers & Scanners in the left pane. In the right pane, select yours Printer and click open queue Possibility.
On the next screen, select the Printer tab and click Set as default printer Possibility.
6. Remove and reinstall printer
If the above methods didn’t help, remove the printer and reinstall it on your computer.
Go to settings > Devices > click Printers & Scanners in the left pane. In the right pane, select yours Printer and click Remove device Button.
Go to settings > Devices > select Printers & Scanners in the left pane. In the right pane, click Add a printer or scanner Possibility.
Once the printer is recognized by the computer, select the Printer and click add device Button.
You should now see that the printer is online and you should be able to print without clicking “Printer is offline” Error message.
