How to delete multiple contacts on Android phone

You may want to delete multiple contacts on your Android phone because many contacts in your contact list are out of touch with you. Below are the steps to delete multiple contacts on Samsung Galaxy phones and also on stock Android phones.

Deleting multiple contacts on Android phone is easy in case you have Samsung Galaxy phone. Contacts app on Samsung Galaxy Phones makes it really easy to delete multiple contacts and also all contacts at once.

In comparison, the default Contacts app on stock Android phones does not have the multiple contact deletion feature.

However, you can still delete multiple contacts from stock Android phones by using the Google Contacts Manager page as below.

Since you can’t delete multiple contacts with the stock contacts app on a stock Android phone, we’ll use the Google Contacts Manager to delete multiple contacts.

1. Visit Google’s site on your computer contact manager page

2. Sign in on the next screen Google Contacts by entering your Gmail ID and password.

3. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see a list of all your contacts. Hover your mouse over a contact you want to delete until you see a check box appear to the left of the contact name (see image below)

4. Click the checkbox to select the Contact (See picture above)

5. Similarly, select all others contacts you want to delete by clicking on the check boxes

6. After selecting all the contacts you want to delete, click trash can iconlocated near the top right corner of your screen (see image below)

7. Once you click on the trash can icon you will see a menu, click Extinguish.

This will delete all the contacts you have selected to delete.

Note: This method only deletes the contacts that have been saved in your Gmail account. Contacts stored on your SIM card are retained and are not deleted.

Sync Contacts to Stock Android Phone

After deleting multiple contacts from the Google Contacts Manager page, you need to sync the contacts to your Android device for the changes to appear.

1. On your Android phone, tap contacts apartment

2. Next, tap the 3 dot icon located in the top right corner of your screen (see image below)

3. From the menu that appears, tap accounts

4. On the next screen, tap Google

5. On the next screen, tap your email

6. Finally, tap contacts Option to start syncing contacts from your Gmail account

Once your phone has synced contacts, go back to the Contacts app to see a slimmer contacts list with several contacts deleted from the list.

Delete multiple contacts on Samsung Galaxy Phone

As mentioned above, deleting multiple contacts on Samsung Galaxy Phone is easy. Follow the steps below to delete multiple contacts directly on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

1. Open the contacts App on your Samsung Galaxy Phone

2. Tap and hold a Contact you want to delete until you see a green tick next to the contact name (see image below).

3. Similarly, select all others contacts you want to delete by tapping on it

4. Next, tap the Extinguish Option in the top right corner of your screen to delete the selected contacts

5. You will see a popup, tap on it Extinguish to confirm that you want to delete selected contacts.

As mentioned above, the Contacts app on Samsung Galaxy Phone also makes it easy to delete all your contacts from your contact list.

1. Tap and hold any Contact until a green tick appears next to the contact’s name (see image below)

2. Next, tap the All option, located in the top left corner of your screen (see image above)

3. Just tap Extinguish to remove all contacts from your contact list.

4. You will see a popup, tap on it Extinguish to confirm that you want to delete all contacts from your contact list.
