The President of the Republic offered a present to the Sovereign, who is celebrating her 70th birthday this weekend.
The queen, who is known for her love of horses, received from the president one of the 470 horses of the Republican Guard cavalry regiment, an animal named Fabuleu de Maucour, whose pedigree is described by General Eric Bio Farina in weekly columns:
“The 7-year-old French saddle, from a Meuse farm, is provided with a gray robe that distinguishes it and is intended for the standard and its escort. It is the flagship of the regiment’s cavalry. “
“She really likes gray horses”
Fabuleu de Maucour began his first service as a standard-bearer on the Champs-Élysées on May 8. “I wanted a wise horse, representative of the regiment, which pleases the queen,” said Colonel Gabriel Cortes.
“I understand she enjoys gray horses very much. I’m sure nothing can please her more.”
This is not the first time the Elysée has offered a Republican Guard horse to a head of state. Chinese President Xi Jinping received in 2018 the bay horse named Vesuvius of Brekka.
The queen is passionate about horse racing and herself a former rider. While her appearances have become rare, the sovereign attended the “Royal Windsor Horse Show” on May 13, near Windsor Castle, where she now resides. A race in which several of his horses took part.
