August 1980. An airplane is tragically the victim of a fire. Luckily, he managed to land safely. But when rescuers opened it, all the passengers died…
The incident took place on August 19, 1980. As Saudia Arabian Flight 163 took off, a fire broke out. So the crew had to turn around at Riyadh airport from where theairplane was gone.
Fortunately, the landing took place safely. However, the captain made a strange decision: instead of braking in an emergency, he continued to roll on the runway to finally stop the plane six minutes later. And when rescuers tried to evacuate the passengers, the entire interior of the plane caught fire and no one was able to survive.
According to experts, it was this decision of the captain, still misunderstood, that killed all the people on board the plane, in other words 287 passengers and 14 crew members.
