With a view to raising awareness of sexual health and HIV in particular, Tinder has launched a campaign to encourage users to swip prevention messages to the right.
CHow to talk about AIDS to young people with accuracy and lightness, and especially without falling into the clichés? Some programs manage to get the message across smoothly, like the very popular France TV series Skam France. (camped by actress Louise Malek), a message of lightness. But if more than 170,000 people still live with HIV in Francediscrimination persists, while medical advances and prevention campaigns are struggling to contain them: homo- and transphobic acts, as well as LGBTphobias are on the rise in France. Acts and stereotypes with disastrous consequences according to Aidesan AIDS association, “stigma hinders access to prevention and care, including sexual health.”

To try and fix this, the Tinder dating app, in collaboration with the SOS Group, an association for the most vulnerable, and the Paris sexual health center CheckPoint, has embarked on a campaign to prevent and combat discrimination suffered by LGBT + people. This campaign is available on the app from May 24th through August 31st according to Têtu magazine.
Prevent for better healing
The principle: in swipant on the right, you will not get a match with your crush, but instead a warning message will be displayed: “discrimination, LGBT + health, know that you are not alone if you need supportUsers will then be directed to the Instagram page of a sexual health center in their geographical area, and will be invited to take make an appointment for a free consultation.
“We are proud to be able to use our platform to support associations that fight on a daily basis for the rights of the LGBT + community and to partner to communicate their message. All members of the LGBT + community need to feel free to express themselves, to act, to listen, and to love without fear“, explains the Tinder spokesman France Ben Puygrenier.

This is not the first time the dating app has been launched in prevention. Already in 2015, the Brazilian version had sensitized the youth to the dangers of HIV through false profiles. “Seeks to meet men and women for relationships without commitment, preferably without a condom”, said the profile in question. Behind this message was actually hiding the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
And the person who responded immediately received an alert message: “attention, it is difficult to know who has HIV. Have fun but take care of yourself. This is a campaign by the Ministry of Health. “This desire to alert young Brazilians was linked to a recurrence of cases of contamination. “Everyone with a sex life is vulnerable. Hence the importance of using a condom and undergoing screening,” Minister Arthur Chioro said at the presentation of the project.
